The Mother of Botswana’s Gospel
She is this country’s long-term TV personality having presented on a godly and inspirational show, the best there was yet to air on the national Television, Melodi Ya kgalaletso. Every Sunday many gospel lovers would be glued to their screens enjoying local and even international gospel songs, and it only got better as it was hosted by a humble soul, the show’s very own Kolobetso Gaolathe. The mother of three kids is not just a TV presenter, besides that she is also an Accountant, Founder and Director of Mogogi Foundation Trust.
You are one of the country’s renounced presenters, how has the journey been for you?
The Journey had so many challenges, so many trials and criticisms there and there, some people will even judge, as people look upon you as role model there will be a lot of expectations.
Melodi Ya kgalaletso showcases gospel talent, is it the one that turned you to Christ?
I was born and raised in a Christian home where I was grounded and rooted in the word of God, so I was already born again before I started presenting the show.
You have been in the show for quite a long time now, what is it that has kept you with the show?
I have been on the show for a long time now, the secret is to be humble and God will lift you, keep you and use you.
Growing with the show as a Christian, how have you come to use it as a tool to serve God?
The good news has been spread to believers and non-believers and we still continue to make sure the word of God reach all, those in prisons and hospitals and comfort those with broken hearts.
How has the journey with the show been?
So far the journey has been smooth regardless of the challenges because if God is on our side no one can be against us.
How have you gone by resolving those challenges?
The only weapon I use to resolve challenges is prayer and believing Gods word.
We are living in changing times and social changes, what adjustments has the show had to make?
Regardless of the challenges we are facing our show has not been affected-we continue to spread the good news and make sure it reaches the young and old more especially those in hospitals and prisons.
How would you say the show has changed lives?
We have received so many testimonials from different people more especially in prisons, people have given their lives to JESUS through the word they receive.
What is your future with the show?
God is about to take me to another level so far I can say I have done my part and is high time someone takes over.
Are there no any other endeavours you are to embark upon as a presenter and television personality?
Yes I’m already into decor and event management, so out of studio I keep myself occupied.
Let’s talk about you personally, how has the show affected you into the person you are today?
This is a difficult question because it’s hard to rate oneself, lovers of my show can answer this better than me, However let me say personally this show has helped me or is helping me to grow spiritual as I encourage my listeners with the word of God every week. I also get encouraged and moulded into a better person.
Do people ever get to perceive that being the lady from the gospel show you uphold yourself in a certain way?
Dealing with a gospel show is delicate because people will measure your spirituality with the way you conduct yourself. As a role model I build and inspire a lot of young women.
Is there any other profession that you are pursuing?
As an event manager, covid-19 has really affected events, but besides that I’m also working on my Organisation called Mogogi Foundation Trust which will be dealing with street kids, disabled and elderly people.
How are those working out for you?
The Organisation is working for me as I believe so much in giving. It is our duty as children of God to be our brother’s keepers, as my late grandfather taught me about the spirit and power of giving.
How is your day to day life away from the profession?
I am a mother of 3 kids so I enjoy spending time with them, there is no any other place I enjoy than the comfort of my house.
As a woman of God what advices would you give out?
Believe in yourself, Believe that you can make it, follow your heart, love God which takes a lot of courage, determination and patience to achieve what you want in life, never be discouraged by circumstances keep believing, keep hoping there is light at the end of tunnel, learn to push with stubbornness.
