Motlogelwa Finds Love In Art

Motlogelwa Finds Love In Art

Thamaga native, Motlogelwa Keaja is an amazing 34 year old fire fighter who also does fine art. He currently resides in Maun and found love in the world of creativity and does it with passion

Tell us about your art work and the journey behind it.
I started my career as an artist at a tender age of 10, after I was inspired by my cousin who used to draw cartoons.

When did you start doing art, and what materials do you use to do your work?
I loved drawing so much that I could just draw in class during school lessons. My artwork focuses mainly on drawing and painting; and I use pencil, pen and oil paint for teaching, healing, decorating and making the general humanity happy.

How is the business doing since you started it?
My business is targeting everyone, but it’s unfortunate that in terms of sales due to Covid-19 there are no exhibitions and sales are very low.

Is artwork your everyday work or there is something else you are doing for a living?
I am not only an artist, I am also a professional Fire Fighter and am passionately doing art as a part time. I have so far sold about 20 pieces and created a Facebook page called Keaja Artcom, where I reach my clients and it is where they too meet my passion.

Share your achievements about your business since its inception?
I have so far won only 2 awards, being number 1 in 2019 on President Competition (painting categories). I also won a bronze award at the Okavango artists association still in 2019. But ever since Covid-19 pandemic hit us, the creative industry has been negatively affected.

What are your last words to other young artists hoping to make it in the art industry?
I would like to thank all those who supported me all the years, and still continue to support me. I would also like to edge the upcoming artists to focus on their God given talents.
