Baking has been portrayed as a traditionally feminine activity, so naturally it has evolved into being labeled as a thing that men do not have place in the kitchen. Meet kealeboga Sefako, commonly known as Chef Sefako. He is a gentleman from Mochudi who has surpassed the stereotype around culinary field and made an amazing business for himself that has proven to blossom. What made him start his own business is the reason that he hasn’t seen any man who does cakes like him so he found a gap and used the chance to create his unique business.
Before starting his business in September 2019 Chef Sefako was working in one of the busiest and popular casual dining restaurant in Gaborone as a sous chef/ kitchen supervisor. He later sacrificed the income he was getting to become his own boss. As all in one chef, he does not only make cakes but does catering also. He mentioned that the most challenging thing about his business is the fact that most of the stuffs that he uses are made outside Botswana. So if they get finished locally it means the business stops, more especially that we are faced by the Covid 19.
Chef Sefako detailed in the interview that he has grown so much to the extent that he can be fully booked and sometimes refers clients to other pastry chefs. In business everyone has a way of selling themselves to customers and for him one thing that makes him stand out is that most of the time when he advertises his products he ensures the pictures of the products sells him well.
Operating his business under the name Rradicake, Sefako pointed out that there is life in cake making because it has more profit. But the business does not come easily as one got to work hard to create more clientele and improve a lot on their work. Being passionate about cooking the most delicious food and baking have inspired him to do amazing give away for his customers in August just to a p p r e c i a t e their loyalty.
