The Versatile Genevieve
Meet Rerang Genevieve Kgwaneng with the stage name Renevieve from Tonota. At only 23 years, she turned out to be a young lady of many talents as she is a singer, songwriter, a content creator and a self-taught makeup artist. Renevieve is also a graduate of Awil College where she studied Motion Picture and specialized in Film Production.
Her music journey started in 2020, when she used music as her coping mechanism. She has a friend called Thabang, who shared with her a couple of beats to use for her YouTube channel. “There was one beat that stood out for me and I wrote my first song which in actual fact is my first single, it is called ‘Stupid love’ and it was produced by PJay,” she said.
That was the beginning of a new journey for her as she then progressed to release another song called ‘Wanting You’ in the same year. Later in 2021 she released ‘Your love’ which was highly received by the public and became the most played song on local radio stations. It was followed by ‘Drip’ in which he was featuring King Tux. She specialises in RnB/Pop music. However, she had started off with RnB, which has always been his passion. When writing her songs, Renevieve said she is usually inspired by the state of emotion she’d be in by that time and she believes that it’s one thing that brings out the most in an individual.
When asked about her biggest inspiration, she mentioned ‘Shekhinah’ as her biggest inspiration and her composition of lyrics and overall brand speaks volumes in terms of artistic content. In future Renevieve says she would like to mix RnB and pop music but still spark pop culture to flow within because she believes that pop music resonates well with her voice especially if it has a sub-genre of dance. This ideal musician wishes to collaborate with the likes of Kali Mija and ATI
Renevieve is currently planning on doing an extended play or an EP by the end of this year. She is all about women empowerment and right now she would like to mentor the young ladies where she can by offering a helping hand in both music and make up world.
