“RnB IS MY LIFE” ALIL BOY
He is a young producer and RnB singer who has so much passion for the genre. Alil Boy, born Elliot Basupang is a self-motivated artist who owns a record label titled DARK 9T RECORDS. The Thamaga native who is 25 years says he has been in the industry for 10 years now as a singer and producer. He recently chatted with CW and this is what he had to say:
Tell us about yourself
I am a music producer and a singer under my record label called DARK 9T RECORDS. I am a courageous artist who works with motives and an aim of achieving self-targeted goals as a result of success. I believe that it does not matter how slowly it goes as long as I don’t stop.
What inspired you into taking up the arts?
Listening to good music motivated me to get involved in the game, but in a different way using my mother and father tongue (Setswana) and English to compose with a flava.
For how long have you been in this industry?
I have been in the game for about 10 years now.
Since joining the industry how many released songs have you got on your portfolio?
I have more than 15 songs.
Have things been working according to your expectations so far t?
Things have been working so fine except that Covid-19 affected my work and I failed to put food on my table.
It must be quite a challenge trying to become an established artist in the industry, how do you work about tackling those challenges?
It’s a quite challenge yes, am trying by all means to put a head where it’s open to show up. Taking my CDs to radio stations so that my music can be known. My manager Pixel Tshegisi also known as Pixel promotions helps me in growing by finding gigs for me.
Your profile states that your song “My Everything” is a love song, and you base yourself with Rnb, WHY?
RnB is my life. I love music that talks ‘MY EVERYTHING’ song was composed because I wanted to show my girl that she’s my everything.
Do you only do RnB music or you also have experimented with other genres?
I also do other genres like house music. I have mojolo song kind of Makhadzi style and it’s a hit.
How did your song get reception?
People really enjoy my music because they get the message from it and it is highly received by Batswana.
